Education Access Group NPC is a non-profit company dedicated to making quality early learning interventions accessible to children in underserved communities across South Africa.
Through sharing the Abagility Intervention Programmes and empowering educators, we start our journey with the aim to spark mathematical curiosity and deliver transformative learning through courageous innovation and disciplined execution from preschool throughout the foundation phase and beyond.
We spark mathematical curiosity by delivering transformative learning experiences and offering courageous innovation and disciplined execution from preschool throughout the foundation phase and beyond.
We achieve this by:
Founded in 2025 by Tracy Hauptfleisch and Cathryn Aylett, Education Access Group NPC was established from a shared vision to make quality early learning interventions accessible to children in underserved communities.
Tracy, founder of Abagility Maths Club, has spent more than 16 years teaching within the private education sector and developing innovative Mathematics programmes for young learners. Cathryn successfully trialled the same programme within the non-profit sector for five years, recognising the urgent need for effective early intervention programmes in both Mathematics and Literacy within informal communities.
Working alongside existing community organisations, the team went on to develop First Steps Abagility — a programme designed to spark excitement, confidence, and foundational numeric literacy skills in children between the ages of 3 and 5.
To see every South African child become numerate, literate, and a confident thinker through transformative learning that inspires curiosity, nurtures confidence, and unlocks lifelong potential.
Our mission is to provide inclusive, high-impact, visual and practical educational programmes that develop mathematics, literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in young learners.
We are committed to:
First Steps Abagility is an innovative early childhood programme designed to build excitement, confidence, and strong foundational numeric literacy skills in children aged 3 to 5 years.
Based on the Fun-Abagility programme developed through Abagility Maths, First Steps Abagility has been expanded and adapted to place greater emphasis on early numeracy exploration in order to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.
Through engaging, play-based activities, children are introduced to essential preschool Mathematics concepts, including:
A key component of the programme is the use of the Soroban, a Japanese abacus that forms the foundation of the Abagility methodology. Through hands-on interaction with the Soroban, learners develop a strong visual and practical understanding of Mathematics from an early age.
Our tuition programme provides children with a practical and visual approach to learning mental arithmetic while teaching the everyday application of mathematical skills within both the school environment and daily life.
Our highly qualified team works alongside classroom teachers because we believe collaboration and shared knowledge ultimately benefit every child. Through this partnership approach, educators are supported, encouraged, and empowered throughout the learning process.
We provide weekly in-person lessons using innovative techniques and trusted teaching methodologies that make learning engaging, practical, and accessible for young learners. Each lesson is tailored to the individual child and their environment, with the aim of igniting curiosity, building confidence, and fostering a natural love for learning.
By partnering with schools, Education Access Group NPC strives not only to improve the quality of Mathematics education within preschools, but also to upskill teachers and strengthen early childhood education within their communities.
Through our partnership with Abagility Maths Club, teachers are also given a unique business opportunity. Once trained and equipped to facilitate the programme, they are able to teach within their own communities while earning an income and making a meaningful impact in the lives of young children.
